Samsung Smart TVs, projectors and smart monitors running Tizen (roughly 2015 and newer). Older Orsay models are no longer supported — the unmaintained legacy Orsay installer remains available as-is.
Yes — Samsung's own developer flow requires signing in once so Apps2Samsung can create the signing certificate your TV needs. That certificate is then reused across installs, so you won't be asked again for the same TV. Installing to several TVs? Add their device IDs (DUIDs) in Settings and one certificate covers them all.
For installing, yes. Enable Developer Mode on your Samsung TV (Apps → type 12345 → toggle on, set your computer/phone's IP), then scan for it in Apps2Samsung. This is the standard Tizen side-loading requirement — and if something is off, the app tells you which part. The remote does not need Developer Mode.
No. The remote rides Samsung's own remote-control channel, so it works on any TV that's awake on the same network — including sets you can't install to. The first connection asks you to accept a prompt on the TV; after that it's silent, and the app can even wake a sleeping TV over the network.
Apps2Samsung uses Samsung's own developer/side-load mechanism — the same one Tizen Studio uses — it doesn't jailbreak or modify your TV's firmware. It's fully open source, so you can read exactly what it does. It isn't affiliated with Samsung or Jellyfin.
The AppImage if you're not sure: it runs on any distro without root. Otherwise the .deb (Debian/Ubuntu), the .rpm (Fedora/openSUSE) or the .tar.gz. All four come in x64 and ARM64. On NixOS, clone the repo and run nix-shell.
